Start Off 2020 On A Good Foot
by Bradlows 7 January 2020
2019 has come and gone. The New Year signifies a time of change for many people. People join the gym to make a change in their health and decide to make a change in their lives or habits, but hardly do we decide to make a change to their home in the new year. Here are 3 ways you can start off 2020 on a good foot.
Declutter Your Home
One of the best, and least expensive, ways to make a change to your home is to clear it of clutter. Most of us acquire a lot of items throughout the year that turns into a mountain of collections. Without some regular decluttering, cabinets and drawers get jam-packed and it becomes hard to find the things you use and enjoy the most. All that clutter also makes your house look dated and dirty.
This year strive to go room-by-room clearing anything that you don't use, wear or love and donate it to charity. Fill your home with the things and colours that raise your energy level and make you feel good, and get rid of the things that drain your energy. Clear your counters of everything you don't use on a daily basis. Maybe invest in a beautiful chest of drawers like the Diva Chest.
Shrink your bills (and your carbon footprint)
When most people think of going green, they often think it takes solar panels or a hybrid car to make a difference. You can cut costs and your energy usage in your home by making small changes. Remember when your mom used to constantly remind you to switch off the lights when you leave a room? That's a great way to start! Better yet, install LED bulbs in your home. South Africa gets a lot of sunlight, so try drying some of your clothes on the line. Lastly, wait for the dishwasher or washing machine to be full before you run them.
Get Your Home Ready for Entertaining
Each year most of us vow to spend more time with family and friends. To make you feel like inviting people in, why not give the areas you entertain in a little update? You don't have to do major remodels to your kitchen or home here. You can invest in a dining room table to make those family gatherings special. You don't even have to spend money. Simply rearrange your furniture so it is oriented in conversation groups and not just facing the television.
2020 has a lot of promise. Start it off on the right foot.
